Library Station Mitte
TconcepT is designing a library in the centre of Offenbach! We can finally reveal our design for the transformation of a former Galeria Kaufhof department store. The city of Offenbach has approved the project and construction will start in early 2026.
Station Mitte will become a dynamic centre for culture, learning and community – with more than 12,000 m² spread over seven floors being transformed into a lively place with a public library, meeting rooms, gaming zones, makerspaces, a shop, café, rooftop bar and much more.
The project combines history with innovation. The original sandstone façade will be carefully exposed and restored, while a bronze-coloured aluminium-glass façade will add a contemporary look. At the heart of the building, a light and spacious atrium connects all floors and offers inviting spaces to meet or relax.
Sustainability is central to the design: reuse of the existing structure, energy-efficient systems, solar panels, green roofs and inclusivity reflect our holistic approach. With Station Mitte, Offenbach is getting more than just a building, it is getting a new cultural landmark and a new meeting place for everyone!
